Andrew Ormston
Chair
When I was 16 and working on ships the film society was the highlight of the week and being able to splice 16mm film mid-screening in a heavy sea a necessity. Nowadays supporting and attending the community programme of Berwick upon Tweed’s Film Festival is an annual highlight.
Andrew has worked in the cultural and creative sector for most of his career. He was Director of Culture in Birmingham when the city launched its first screen agency and has run a number of venues that included film seasons within their programmes. His more recent consultancy work has taken him to SE Asia, MENA and around Europe, including regular roles as a lead expert with the European Commission
