CINEMA FOR ALL’S EQUALITEAS TEA PARTY

18 JUNE – 2 JULY 2018

To celebrate 90 years since the Representation of the People Act, groups and organisations all over the country are celebrating by organising EqualiTeas!

At Cinema For All on 21 June, we are partnering with EqualiTeas by putting aside time to discuss what democracy and equality mean to us.

In true community cinema spirit, there will be tea, coffee, homemade cakes and lots of discussion. Tea parties were once hotbeds of political activism, being one of the few ways that women could meet to discuss and plan, so there is no better way to get together and share ideas, debate and celebrate!

If you are hosting your own EqualiTeas event, we would love to hear all about it! The EqualiTeas website offers some great resources and information to help with planning your event and organising activities on the day. It is through commemorating the achievements of the past that we hope to inspire people today.

EqualiTeas has been developed by the Houses of Parliament as part of its Education and Engagement Service.

FUNDING SUCCESS FOR VOTE 100 CELEBRATION

Cinema For All is delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Women’s Suffrage Centenary Grant Scheme. As a female-led organisation and one of only 8 organisations to be awarded funding from the scheme, we are proud and excited.

The funding is part of the Centenary Grant Scheme’s £1.1 million Large Grant Fund, designed to support large-scale projects that aim to increase young people’s engagement with democracy.  Through screenings of archive film at volunteer-led venues, Cinema For All’s project honours the sacrifice of those who achieved women’s suffrage 100 years ago, as well as celebrating modern day female heroes and preserving their stories through film.

It is an honour to be selected, and we are very excited to embark on our project in collaboration with Yorkshire Film Archive, North Film East Archive and the North West Film Archive.

CEO of Cinema For All, Deborah Parker said:

‘I am absolutely delighted that our successful bid to the Women’s Centenary Grant Scheme is the one that’s helped me surpass the one million pound mark in my fundraising for Cinema For All. It’s going to be a fabulous project!’

Minister for Women, Victoria Atkins, said:

‘I am delighted to be awarding funding to these innovative, exciting projects that will inspire women and young people from all over the country, and follow national celebratory activity that has already begun under the small grant scheme.’

We will be releasing more details about our exciting project made possible from the Women’s Centenary Grant Scheme soon.
