PROGRAMMING ON THE GROUND – DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAMME
Join Cinema For All in Belfast on Sunday 17 November and get together with your fellow community cinemas for our free event, Programming On The Ground!
With a focus on film programming, the event will begin with an interactive panel discussion, chaired by Film Hub Northern Ireland, with inspiring speakers from Dungannon Film Club, Ballyclare Community Cinema and access>CINEMA.
After lunch you will take part in a film programming workshop and activity led by Ellie and Rosie from the Cinema For All team, and get to enjoy a film screening of the fantastic The Peanut Butter Falcon.
The Peanut Butter Falcon is a modern Mark Twain-esque adventure starring Shia LaBeouf as a small-time outlaw turned unlikely coach who joins forces with Zak, a young man with Down Syndrome on the run from the nursing home with the dream of becoming a professional wrestler. Dakota Johnson stars as Zak’s loving, but stubborn, carer. The Peanut Butter Falcon is supported by BFI FAN as part of their New Release Strategy, which means that anyone screening the film can access extra support from their local Film Hub, and download a marketing pack to help advertise the screening.

ON THE GROUND COMMUNITY CINEMA DAY
LISKERRETT COMMUNITY CENTRE, LISKEARD
SATURDAY 26 JANUARY, 10–4PM
At Cinema For All, we understand the challenges of setting up and maintaining a sustainable community cinema, as well as the benefit they provide to local communities. Yet, running a community cinema can equip you with skills and experience that can assist other groups!
That is why with On the Ground, we want to get community cinemas together – to share their ideas with one another and benefit from each other’s knowledge.
Our day-long event will encourage this with:
- Panel discussions featuring local community cinemas sharing their stories
- Two interactive training sessions: Marketing and Publicity and Attracting and Maintaining Volunteers for Your Community Cinema
- Networking opportunities, so that you can get to know other groups in your region
There will also be chance to learn about how to become an On the Ground Champion, our regional support scheme which pairs groups looking for assistance with those willing to help and host them at one of their screenings.
So, whether you are a new group looking to start screening films in your community, an existing group in search of some additional support, or an experienced group keen to share your stories and advice to help others, we have something for everyone at this event!
