'Attending the Film Society of the Year Awards is definitely my most memorable community cinema experience. From feeling so proud of Edinburgh University Film Society when we won an award, to being in awe of all the amazing things community cinemas have done each year. It always makes me cry and reminds me of why the work that community cinemas do is so important.'
Katherine Sellar was appointed to the Cinema For All board three years ago and took on the role of Chair in 2014. Katherine's passion for community cinema began when she was a student at Edinburgh University where she was President of the Film Society. After graduating, she worked in the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Development Department before joining Fife Council’s Cultural Partnerships Team as a Cultural Co-ordinator. At Fife Council, Katherine supported community groups and other stakeholders to develop partnerships and cultural projects and secure funding. Keen to pursue her interest in fundraising, Katherine went on to work at the RSPB and then for the Scottish mental health charity, Health in Mind as a Community Fundraiser. Katherine's main areas of expertise are Volunteer Management, Fundraising and Community Engagement.
