Cinema For All is delighted and excited to share with you news of Lift – a new package designed especially to help volunteer-run cinemas re-open their doors, safely, affordably and with our specialised support and advice.

Following the series of focus groups we held in June, we listened to what community cinemas told us they needed. In response, we have created a package of discounts, offers, training, bursaries and grants to help you get through this period and back on the big screen.

Further details of these amazing offers will be available very soon, but for now, we wanted to share with the you the biggest developments:

1. The Booking Scheme – 3 for 1 screenings and big discounts!
Hundreds of titles on the Cinema For All Booking Scheme will be made available in new and more affordable ways to help you screen films to a reduced, socially-distanced audience. A wide range of titles will be available on a 3 for 1 basis – meaning you can screen a single title up to 3 times for the price of one standard licence to help you get the same audience numbers as a regular screening. Additionally, a large number of back catalogue titles will be available to hire for just £50.* With over 15 indie distributors excited to take part, such as Altitude Releasing and Mubi as well as smaller studios and producers, you will have lots to choose from. The full list of £50 and 3 for 1 titles will be available next week!

2. The Filmbankmedia Virtual Screening Room
Filmbankmedia Virtual Screening Room is coming soon! Find out more at the Cinema For All Community Cinema Conference this September. As well as this, Filmbankmedia are working on a number of options to support film societies and community cinemas during this difficult time. Watch this space.

3. Sustain Lift
Another round of our coaching and training programme will take place over autumn, designed to help you become a more sustainable and long-term organisation. Sustain support comes complete with a bursary of between £200-£1000.

4. The Community Cinema Venue Grant
A limited number of grants of up to £2000 will be made available for organisations that have their own fixed venue and have struggled to pay outgoings during the crisis. Details of how to apply, as well as full criteria, are coming soon.

5. MUBI 90 day membership trials
Our amazing partners at MUBI are excited to continue this offer for community cinemas and your audiences. If you didn’t get your trial back at the start of lockdown, sign up now:

6. WRS Insurance discounts
Our partners WRS have a variety of packages to help you make sure you are fully covered for reopening. Cinema For All members are entitled to discounted rates on public liability insurance and more. Details here.

With all these offers available, there is no better time to renew your Cinema For All membership. In addition to giving you access to all these deals and discounts, your membership supports the umbrella network of community cinemas across the country as we all work together to achieve cinema for all.

Safety guidelines surrounding reopening will soon be made available from Film Hub NI, part of the Film Audience Network. Cinema For All is contributing to the guidelines and will share widely once available.
Many thanks to all the individuals and groups who took part in our focus groups, which informed this package and helped us advocate to our partners for what you need. More details, criteria and terms and conditions will follow next week.

Many thanks also to the BFI awarding funds from the National Lottery for their flexibility in helping us create this offer, to Filmbankmedia, to MUBI, to WRS Insurance and to all our partner distributors on the Cinema For All Booking Scheme.

*terms and conditions apply. Offer only applies to screenings taking place before 17 January 2021. Own copy only screenings. 3 for 1 screenings must take place over a consecutive 3 day period.
