In collaboration with our friends Cosmic Cat, we are delighted to bring a fantastic deal to community cinemas for bookings of the heart-warming film Dirt Road to Lafayette for just £20. You can also include a Q&A with the director, Kenny Glenaan for your screening via Zoom for no extra cost!
This sweet film is adapted from the successful novel by James Kelman. It tells the story of Murdo, 15, and his father, Tom as they make the journey from Scotland to North Alabama to visit their America/Scots relatives after the death of Murdo’s mother. Murdo is an accordion player but has not played since his mother passed. He meets an old lady called Queen Monzee-ay who plays accordion and she rekindles his interest in music and invites him to play a gig with her. The music becomes a wedge which drives itself between him and his father, who out of the best intentions tries to control him. Eventually Murdo transcends his father and follows the music.
