Volunteers’ Week takes place every year from 1-7 June. It is an opportunity to think about and celebrate all of the hard work, passion and dedication of community cinema volunteers across the UK.
At a time when people may be feeling particularly isolated and disconnected from their communities, Cinema For All is celebrating the joy of bringing people together to enjoy great film at community cinemas.
Cinema For All asked community cinema organisers across the UK to send pictures of themselves holding a message saying what they love the most about volunteering. It was wonderful to receive so many positive responses, highlighting the impact of volunteering on communities, social interaction, and wellbeing.
“Sharing a love of film that extends way beyond the credits. It brings us together.”
“It feels great to see people come together and enjoy good films in a friendly atmosphere. The smiles on people’s faces says it all!”
“Community cinema is a great way to give back to the community, and leaves a positive impact.”
“Making the best friends!”
We have put the responses together in a PDF collage and video format for you to download below. We hope that it encourages you to take a moment to reflect on and feel proud of the impact that you have in your communities, and remember why we do what we do.
