We are delighted to announce the summer round of our starting up coaching programme Next Gen is recruiting for applicants now!
Are you under 30 and looking to screen films in your community, or at your university in the future?
Do you work with young people (in a school, college or youth club) that would like to set up their own cinema?
Interested in a summer programme that will engage young people online, in which they can plan exciting events for the future?
Our BFI funded coaching programme Next Gen is specifically dedicated to helping groups of under 30 year old’s, or those working with the age group (in youth clubs or colleges), set up their own community cinemas!
With cinemas currently closed and social interactions operating from a safe distance, it is a difficult and potentially isolating time for many. Next Gen allows groups of young people to come together online, learn new skills and start planning their own community cinema screenings to take place when it is safe to do so!
Taking place between June – August 2020, Next Gen will comprise of four online coaching sessions, providing you with both the motivation and knowledge in areas including: setting up a community cinema, marketing and publicity, special events, technical advice, fundraising and more. Each coaching session is delivered over Zoom, a free online video call programme, making it easy for everyone to join in from their homes and for the workshops to run at a time that is convenient for you.
The coaching sessions will be accompanied by a £400 bursary to put towards your first two test screenings (to take place from September onwards, in line with government advice), allowing you to the freedom of testing out your ideas, without the financial risk. You will be supported in the programme with the advice and expertise of our friendly, experienced Cinema For All team who will guide you through the process and be with you every step of the way.
Cinema For All represents over 1,200 community cinemas in the UK and in our last four years running starting up coaching programmes we’ve helped over 60 groups kick start their community cinema. Our previous work with under 30’s proved that taking ownership of and running a community cinema increases confidence, builds team working abilities and develops knowledge and skills that are transferable to professional environments. Next Gen will follow on from this work, offering tailored support for under 30’s to kick start their community cinemas.
