Since 1969, Cinema For All has hosted the annual Film Society of the Year Awards. The awards recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of volunteer-led community cinemas and film societies in the UK and are the highlight of our events calendar.
In 2014, the prestigious Engholm Prize for Film Society of the Year was awarded to Northern Ireland’s Dungannon Film Club. Dungannon’s Chair, Chris Begley said: ‘This recognition is great. We work very hard to make DFC a fun organisation for the volunteers… Since none of us get paid for it, being named Film Society of the Year is the best reward we could receive. For us to receive this award in our first year is phenomenal and we are so excited about what we’re going to do in the next 12 months to try to hold on to it!’
A full Awards section is coming to the Cinema For All website in the coming months, in time for the launch of applications for the Film Society of the Year Awards 2015. This year’s ceremony will be on October 3, in Sheffield.
