VICE CHAIR
'In 2017, I ran a volunteering project where we worked with a group of young people to plan a free family-friendly community screening. A women came along with her son who had ADHD and Autism. The day after she sent me an email thank us for being so accommodating. She told me this was the first time her son had ever stayed through a whole film and she was grateful to have found a cinema that was so inclusive. This is the power of community cinema!'
Sukayna Najmudin became a Cinema For All Trustee in 2017. Sukayna has been a former chair of Film Unit, and it was over this time that she fell head over heels for community cinema. Film Unit is the student run cinema at the University of Sheffield Students' Union, hosting at least 5 screenings a week during university term time. As chair of the committee in 2016, she worked hard to push inclusivity within the cinema, wanting to make it accessible for as many people as possible in the local community. Some of the initiatives her committee introduced include regular hard of hearing and autism friendly screenings and a free charity ticket scheme.
